Design patterns are a form of reusable design knowledge, which will help you to become more productive by not having to reinvent the wheel over and over again.

Means: we introduce design patterns, with a bit of history. We will explain an example and then get to work. We will give you some design problems, guide you in finding appropriate patterns, let you implement them in code, and evaluate the trade-offs.

We will discuss benefits and pitfalls of using design patterns. How useful and potentially harmful are patterns, and whether it is useful to always refactor to a pattern.

Audience: software developers, CI/CD engineers, anyone developing software or writing scripts; this workshop is suitable for junior and medior developers who want to grow.

Prerequisites:

  • You need basic Python knowledge for the programming exercises; if you are not familiar with Python, please go through the "Learn the Basics" part of the LearnPython.org interactive tutorial (1-3 hours)
  • Have Python 3, Git & VS Code installed on your laptop
